I arrived at the door with two bags and no offer of assistance to open the door. (There was a sign to ask us to use the rotating door though). Check in was fast, but no direction to where the elevator was located or assistance with baggage. Room was clean, nice, superb as expected. Pool and jacuzzi was clean and well maintained. Cleaning crew greeted us nicely. Lobby crew did not greet us. Maybe we were young or did not dress the part of upper class, but if you pay for a hotel at this level, you should expect services and a welcome at this level. I did not feel welcomed during my stay.

Our stay at the Intercontinental was for business purposes. We had a great stay, the service was excellent. We would not complain, but would just point out a couple of things. Our coffee maker only made ONE cup of coffee at a time, and only fit their brand of coffee. Not good for serious drinkers! Yet not really a big deal, we were just pressed for time and didn't want to go coffee shopping every morning. And no microwave for my cold coffee, can you tell I'm used to 'suite' hotels? Also, the valet parking was expensive and not mentioned...$/day. I think there is cheaper parking around, but we didn't have time to shop for that either, so just be aware. The excellent service from everyone there certainly smoothed over all these little things.

This was our first time staying in San Francisco/an Intercontinental hotel. A week prior, I had injured my ankle...the hotel accomodated for my injury and made our stay enjoyable. Great view, nice clean room, helpful concierge and staff, and close to Union Square the hub of San Francisco. If we travel to SF again, we will definitely stay there again. The only negative about our stay, the pool was under construction and we werent notified. They did have a deal set up with the Marriott, where we could use their pool. But had I wanted to use their pool, I wouldve stayed there.

Excellent hotel, courteous staff, beautiful, clean and very quiet room. The only criticism I could possibly give is that it is not in the most central of locations, but if you like shopping, it's only blocks away from Westfield's San Francisco Centre and Union Square. That said, San Francisco is so easy to navigate that even the location is not a very big issue. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel is fantastic. It is upscale business with a casual feel. We had everything we wanted and needed, but at a price. The staff was very obliging and helpful. They almost knew us by name and always asked if they could do more. The hotel is large and accomodating. There are not that many restaraunts or clubs/bars within the hotel block, so be prepared to walk or drive. The location is in downtown, close to Chinatown and almost directly across from the Metreon. The area around the hotel at night is slightly shady, but the hotel was very safe. The parking in San Francisco and around the hotel is insane. Be prepared to pay up to $60 for parking a night here, and $5-$20 around the city. It was expensive but the valet parking at the hotel was exceedingly convenient. The rooms are comfortable and modern, and the beds will feel like heaven after a long day in the city. There are a few open air balconies that give a good break for smokers. The view from some points in the hotel are slightly obscured by the surrounding buildings, and the bay was invisible from our room. Overall the hotel was great.
